Mill Close resident Charlie Shearman has captured this remarkable photo of a quite magnificent visitor to his garden. Swarms of red kites over the Dodds Lane end of the village have been likened to something out of the Alfred Hitchcock film The Birds.

The case of Django, the missing cat, has had a happy ending. After he failed to return home earlier this week his worried owners Paul and Madalena Borg of No 146, did a house-to-house leaflet drop asking residents to keep an eye out.

Village’s red, white and blue welcome

Jubilee fever is gripping  the village this week as preparations for the street party hit top gear. Nearly 100 people are expected for Saturday’s celebration of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. The village sign even got a makeover to mark the event, with a royal flush of red, white and blue lupins.

Village couple’s wedding hits all the right notes

A love of music has brought a Piccotts End couple to the altar. In the village’s first wedding for many years, Jane McClelland married Simon Lillystone at Chenies Manor in a ceremony filled with a feast of singing and dancing. Jane, who lives at 140, is a former music teacher and met Simon at a musical event in London.

This month’s spring coffee morning was more than a gathering of residents eager to get out and enjoy the sunshine.

It was an occasion when the village showed its true colours of kindness, generosity and a hitherto unseen talent for speaking Russian!

The village coffee morning will take place this Sunday (May 8th) and in a sign of the times, it is on the village’s new noticeboard. Well that’s if you can call a stake in the ground with a laminated poster attached to it a noticeboard! It’s a forerunner of a real noticeboard that won approval at last month’s AGM

Jubilee Street Party & development threats dominate AGM

A street party to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be held in the village on Saturday June 4th. Residents gave the thumbs up to the event at last week’s AGM. 

The other main topic concerned the Fairfax development plan on the other side of the Leighton Buzzard road. Opposition is being co-ordinated by Holly Cross of Piccotts End Farm. Holly outlined the current situation and you can read further details of how to support her campaign below.
