All posts were filled without any contestants, and following re-election, SL took the Chair of the Meeting |

6. | Village sign planters
The excellent new planters and the display of plants were praised. Jonathan was thanked for arranging this, and it was agreed to ask the contractor to maintain and renew the planting on a regular basis. It was agreed that the maximum expense involved should be in the regio of £90. | JC to arrange.
7. | Social Items | |
7.1 | Spring Brunch at the Marchmont Arms on Sunday 28thApril | AH to liaise with the Marchmont Arms. |
7.2 | Summer event | |
The great success of the street parties for the Jubilee in 2022 and the Coronation in 2023 was noted, but it would not be possible to repeat those in the immediate future. The difficulties previously encountered in finding a suitable date for a summer event were noted, and it was decided not to attempt to hold one this year.
7.3 | Autumn events | |
It was decided to explore whether enough residents would be interested in a scarecrow competition and /or a harvest festival event, as these had been successful in the past. | JC to email a questionnaire to residents
The 2023 Safari supper had been very successful; it was agreed that this should be held every other year.
7.4 | Firework Party | |
Jonathan agreed to hold this on 16th November
7.5 | Twelfth Night | |
This year’s event was successful, and it was agreed to repeat it.
7.5 | It was agreed that a calendar of the year’s events should be posted on the village notice-board, and that there should be updates in the What’s App chat with links to the PERA website.
8. | Any other business | |
8.1 | Martin Cotton asked whether there had been any progress with the village broadband. Annette Harrison reported a recent conversation with BT/EE. It seems a major fibre feed is to be installed along the link road, there is no news about it coming to Piccotts End.
8.2 | Caroline Scanlon wondered whether there could be a rota for regular litter picking as the current situation is not good. She offered to coordinate this. | CS to investigate |
8.3 | Flooding of the road. It was agreed that this is now mainly a problem at the north end of the village, and Anita Foster’s efforts to get something done about this were praised. She has written to Dacorum council and to Mike Penning and has identified a named person to contact at Dacorum council.
8.4 | David Satchel asked whether residents would be interested in attending an informal drawing class he would run for two hours on Saturday mornings. He was asked to give details to JC for publication on the PERA website.
8.5 | Val Corbett had asked whether anything could be done about the condition of some buildings in this conservation area. Simon Lillystone said that he had previously been informed that the situation in a conservation area is only relevant if there are any proposed changes to a property.
8.6 | Caroline Scanlon expressed concern about possible loiterers in the drive between 110 and 112.
9. | Meeting closed at approximately 21:00 and was followed by refreshments and nibbles. |
