February 2025
Our village book club has proved a big hit since it started some 15 years ago. In that time we have read more than 100 novels and short stories, ranging from classics like Moby Dick to amazing short stories like The Time Machine. But few have given us more pleasure than one written by one of our members. We are so lucky to have Hemel author Emily Critchley! As a good friend of one of our residents, she has been a welcome addition as a guest member. Last year she published her second novel, The Undoing of Violet Claybourne, an epic story of betrayal, much of it set in a country house where dark goings on are revealed page by gripping page. Emily, pictured left at one of her book signings, joined our latest meeting where members were full of praise for her latest magnum opus.
