July 2017
The summer BBQ was blessed with music and sunshine. It was a warm and sunny 1st of July as villagers were welcomed with a glass of Pimms, kindly provided by our hostess Miriam Smith at her home Gone to Ground. Then it was the turn of village musicians to entertain with a recital of chamber music. The star of the show was Miriam’s son Toby on cello. Toby, who has just won a music scholarship to Millfield, impressed us all with his skill, and his smile! The quintet was completed by Tim & Julia Blinko and Jane McClelland and her partner Simon. PERA chairman David Stanier presented Miriam with a token of thanks. Thanks also to Annette Harrison, PERA’s social secretary for organising another successful event.
