February 2017
PERA secretary Michael Nidd has delivered some depressing news about the proposed development of Marchmont Fields. Michael presented PERA’s objections at last year’s public consultation. But following publication of the inspector’s findings he says she has all but rubber-stamped its go-ahead. With pressure on local authorities to get on with building new homes to meet the housing shortage, it looks likely that 350 new homes and a small traveller pitch will be going ahead by the end of the decade.
2025 UPDATE. Despite our forebodings, the development has yet to get off the ground.
