Chasing cheap petrol prices seems a bit of a fool’s game. But it’s surprising how many people do it, me included. Why drive 10 miles to find petrol that costs a few pence less when the saving is swallowed up by the cost of getting there. But since Asda took over the old Co-op garage at Cupid Green, I have no need to drive any further. At 137p a litre it’s cheaper than even Tesco. So hats off to Asda  and a big boo to BP at Harpenden. Their high street prices are regularly 10p more than anywhere else. It may seem insignifcant but at an average tank capacity of 60 litres, that 10p adds up to £6. If you fill up every other week, it adds up to a saving of around £125 every year. In today’s squeeze on your pocket it’s a no brainer. It ‘as to be Asda!
