November 2021
The village’s first fireworks party for a couple of years has been hailed a resounding success.. More than 80 residents watched an amazing display which was, by general consent, the best yet in the 15 years of the event.
Yvonne Metcalfe of No 42 emailed to thank PERA’s social committee for ‘a lovely evening and an amazing display.’
Lady Val Corbett of No 96 emailed saying ‘A great PERA night. I was pleased to see such a good turnout and I thought the organisation was perfect, especially the raffle callers!
‘And the fireworks …. Simply superb. Truly awesome. Thank you to the committee for all you do to bind villagers together.’
Holly Cross from Piccotts End Farm posted ‘We just got back from seeing Rupert and I dashed to the paddock to see it. It was amazing, just wow. We were at another display the night before and I was like “yep, fireworks” watched last night and thought “wow”. The finale was stunning. Thank you to all and sorry we couldn’t be there.’
Bill and Joyce Lear of Gadespring emailed saying ‘What a great display. We loved it.’
Steve and Heather Pears emailed their thanks ‘for the excellent fireworks party. Absolutely stunning.’
The display was fired in the garden of Marchmont Cottage by a team from Fantastic Fireworks who filled the sky with volley after volley of colourful starbursts. Back down on the ground PERA’s secretary Michael Nidd was busy filling roll after roll with his delicious pulled pork and apple sauce. Hots dogs, and soup made by PERA’s social secretary Annette Harrison, proved additional tasty treats as a record number of residents happily chatted on a a mild and dry November evening.
