The annual Piccotts End summer garden party hit all the right notes despite the showers which threatened to put a damper on the day. Families, friends and neighbours who gathered in the picturesque setting of Miriam’s Smith’s garden were treated to a musical interlude provided by four of our talented residents. ‘It was a fantastic setting and the music was such a delight,’ said the PERA social secretary Annette Harrison.
Echoing her sentiments, PERA chairman David Stanier added: ‘It was a super day and a great success. Thank you Annette very much for organising it and especially Paul for doing all the van work. The highlight must have been the musical event. But also I think Miriam’s venue was an exceptional place to hold it.’
The afternoon started with sunshine and occasional downpours as residents braved the weather to barbecue burgers, bangers and whatever else took their fancy. Then it was the turn of husband and wife duo Tim (piano) and Julia (flute) Blinko to team up with Jane McClelland (violin) and Toby Smith (cello) and treat their audience to an impromptu recital. The sun eventually won out and the residents spent the rest of the afternoon basking in the warm glow of another successful PERA event. Go to the Gallery for more photos.
