Watch out for tell-tale sign of dog-snatchers, village warned

Villagers haven been warned to watch out for strange markings that might be a signal to dog-snatchers. There have been a spate of thefts during the pandemic and one trick used by culprits is to leave a mark in bright coloured paint on a tree or bush outside a house where there is a dog.

Riverbank resident Sue Leach said ‘Piccotts End has become something of a tourist attraction since last Spring and there are many, many strangers now walking through the village with ample opportunity to snoop.

‘It feels awful that we should have to be so suspicious of people but we must all be as vigilant as possible. If you see a suspicious looking mark outside your home, you would be well advised to remove it and report the matter to the police.’
