Sun shines on summer BBQ

The Piccotts End summer garden partyWarm, sunny weather greeted the dozens of residents who attended this year’s July 4th summer garden party at Riverbank. BBQs cooked tasty skewers of chicken and lamb, and burgers by the dozen, and when it came to the puddings everyone was spoiled for choice. Colourful strawberry gateaux and flans competed for pride of place, with Patricia Nidd’s wonderful Stars and Stripes cake winning First Prize. While the children played football the adults chatted over a welcome glass of Prosecco and a plentiful supply of wine and beer. PERA chairman David Stanier summed it up, telling the event organiser Annette Harrison: ‘What a lovely BBQ. The weather was perfect, the setting lovely … and everybody who attended enjoyed themselves. I would like to thank you and your team for what looked like effortless organisation. I would like to thank your husband Paul as well because he uncomplainingly did an amazing amount of running about.’
