Royal tribute role for Piccotts End’s Penny
Among the many voices paying tribute to the late Queen on radio and TV this weekend was Piccotts End resident Penny Gore. Penny is more familiar to BBC Radio 3 listeners as presenter of the Afternoon Concert but following the sad news from Buckingham Palace she was summoned to Broadcasting House to co-present an afternoon of musical tributes to the late Monarch. Penny quickly prepared her script on the train to Euston before sitting down with fellow presenter Petroc Trelawney for a 4-hour marathon.
In the village tributes were symbolised by the Union Flag flying at half-mast in the garden of Carly Smith at the Boars Head.
