First exhibition for village artist
A village resident is exhibiting her art at the Old Town. Vanessa Westwell, who moved to the coach house at the Boars Head last summer, said: ‘It’s my first exhibition, so I was delighted to get the chance to show my work at The Old Town Hall.
She added: ‘I am not art school trained. I achieved ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level Art, back in the 70’s.I then went on to attend many art workshops and evening classes over the years, including silk painting, mosaics, pottery, life drawing, collage, portrait painting, and learned a wide range of painting and multi media techniques.
‘I love the vibrant colours I can get with acrylic paint. I also enjoy drawing free hand with a black marker pen and then colouring with crayons. I find that rather soothing!
‘I am not a full time artist, as yet, although I long to have an art studio of my own. So at the moment I must make do with the kitchen table!’
Vanessa has a website at www.VanessaWestwell.com, where she has set up a print on demand shop, so her designs can be made into useful objects, linens, homeware and clothing.
Her exhibition is on until the end of March.
