Holly’s marathon triumph
Piccotts End Supermum Holly Cross has done it again! Running only her second London Marathon at the weekend, Holly crossed the line in a personal best time of 4hrs 48 minutes – nearly half an hour quicker than the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt!
Holly was running to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, the charity which helped save the life of her son Rupert by finding a donor for a bone marrow transplant.
A triumphant Holly fought off all the last-minute self-doubts that threatened to derail her preparations.
‘I knew I could do it but after the pain of the first one 5 years ago I said I would never, ever do it again.
‘Whoops! I forgot how blinking hard all the training was!’
Thanking the donors who have raised neary £1500 for her effort, Holly said ‘If I can raise a little bit to save a life, then I will do all I can.
‘There are people out there not as lucky as us and still waiting to find a donor. Everyday I am so very thankful for every extra day we have with our beautiful boy. Every penny helps.’
